Visualize To Actualize

The picture on the right was the picture I had on my Vision Board... it also happens to be a picture of Greg Plitt, who was a legend in the Fitness Industry. The Picture on the left is me about 6 months after I created my vision board.

If you want to achieve a goal you must see the achieving in your own mind before you actually arrive.

I held this vision daily, and this picture of Greg helped me see clearly what I wanted. I demonstrated my faith with action and knew that what I strived for.

I needed to invite God in the journey with me because of the pain I was going through at that time in my life (I used Faith and Fitness as therapy to get me through that dark time in my life), I considered the outcome DONE, and kept taking consistent daily actions with this goal on top of mind. I talk more in detail about the process in my best selling book in the Mission of Mindset Chapter.

Why does a vision board work?

It uses something called the RAS ( reticular activating system) The RAS acts as a filter (We have so much information our brains have to process in any given moment, that the RAS filters in what is important to us.) and also acts as a heat-seeking missile (on the lookout for anything that will bring us closer to what is top of mind). This is why it is so important to work on a vision board and mindset... to program those "filters" and "heat-seeking missiles" so to speak.

The best way to achieve your goals is to keep them top of mind, so you’re always looking for ways to move yourself closer to them – and a vision board is the perfect tool to help you do that.

In the example above, that picture was a good reminder of what I was striving for. When I got the photos back I was amazed by the similarity... we didn't intentionally set up a similar shot, there was a heavy bag at the gym and the photographer just asked me to start punching it. I believe from looking at the pic daily, it was so set in my brain that I naturally started punching similar to Greg.

Does a vision board always deliver so specific?  No... but I think you see how powerful of a tool it can be in helping you keep a goal top of mind!

If you want lasting change start being intentional with controlling what you think about, visualize, and take action on. True transformation starts in the mind.
